El seguimiento de Magick & Mischief de 2020 se grabó en febrero en Developing Nations en Baltimore, Maryland, con el productor e ingeniero Kevin Bernsten. El álbum también marca el debut discográfico de SPELLBOOK de sus dos nuevos guitarristas, Les Yarde y Patrick "Patty" Benton.
“El material tiene una nueva vida inyectada en él mientras mantiene el sonido aventurero de hard rock de los años 70 por el que nos esforzamos”, dice el baterista Nick Zinn. “Ciertamente ayudó a Les y Patty a amar Magick & Mischief y su enfoque sin reglas. Sin embargo, al mismo tiempo, Deadly Charms parece un poco más centrado. Nos encanta cómo el ambiente general tiene una sensación más de himno”.
Según Zinn, los temas líricos de Deadly Charms se basan mucho más en el horror y la realidad que el enfoque de fantasía y ficción que se encuentra en Magick & Mischief . La obra de arte creada por David Thiérrée (BEHEMOTH, MORTIIS, IHSAHN) muestra hábilmente estos temas.
